Permanently Blind After Playing Games All Day
A young woman in Dongguan, China must lose sight of her right eye after playing games on her mobile for a full day.
According to Chinese media reports, as reported by Asia One, Xiao Wu 21-year-old known to play a popular game called King of Glory before he was suddenly blind. The incident occurred on October 1, 2017 ago.
Xiao Wu is also fond of inviting friends to her home to play King of Glory, a multiplayer game online fight. His friends said he was obsessed with the game even able to play seven to eight hours every day. Sometimes he spends time sleeping to keep playing games.
The blindness experienced began to feel when Xiao Wu picked up the phone at dinner and she began to feel something was wrong in her right eye. In the evening, he can not sleep and continues to cry because he feels pain in the eye and then get medical treatment.
Shortly after being treated at the Donggiang Huaxia Eye Hospital, doctors diagnosed Xiao suffering from retinal artery occlusion ie the state of the eye losing monocular eyes without pain.
This condition usually occurs in the elderly and can not be cured resulting in permanent loss of vision.
Xiao Wu, who is an entrepreneur admitted, he usually wakes up at 6:00 am and starts playing games after breakfast until around 16:00. He will then take a nap then continue playing until 01.00 or 02.00 local time.
"Sometimes I forget the time, I do not eat even when my parents are eating," he said.
While his parents are also known to have tried to persuade him to not too crazy with mobile gaming. "Now I feel scared and sorry for not listening to them," Xiao Wu said.
The doctors who treat it in the hospital said, excessive fatigue can damage the eyes, including because of staring at the computer screen or cell phone for hours on an ongoing basis.
