Online Transport Prohibited in Bandung

The prohibition of online transport operates in West Java provoking reactions from the warganet. A petition raised by warganet at change.org is intended for Mayor of Bandung Ridwan kamil, West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, and President Joko Widodo, to lift the ban. In a petition entitled "Revoke the Online Transportation Prohibition in Bandung", the warganet with ID Surili Percusion expressed that the government's decision would harm society. "The policy is actually detrimental to the people who are part of their rights deprived, the right to freedom of choice for public transport is forcibly removed, the public is forced to choose uncertain public transportation," he said in an introduction Tuesday, October 10, 2017. The government of West Java prohibits online transport from operating prior to the issuance of new regulations governing transport-based applications. Previously the Minister of Transportation Regulation about the online tax, which regulates the tariff, was rejected by the Supreme Court. The ministry then revised the regulation and intends to issue it in November 2017. Surili also expressed its complaints about conventional transportation which is considered less comfortable. In detail he mentioned the cause of the inconvenience is the frequent urban transportation tap carelessly so that the time arrives to be uncertain, often the passengers are forced to sit jostling because the vehicle is overloaded, to the lack of security guarantees and tariff certainty. The four points demanded by Surili is for the government to review and revoke the ban on the operation of online transportation in Bandung until the improvement of conventional public transport services. Furthermore, the government is asked to fix the overall public transportation so that the convenience and security of the users are served. The government is also required to give freedom to the public to vote in the use of public transport, as well as to create mutually beneficial policies and decisions between conventional transport, online and user communities. Until Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 19:00 pm, the petition was signed by 1,773 citizens. CEO of Go-Jek Nadiem Makarim spoke about banning the operation of online transportation in West Java. He asked the local government to immediately solve the problems that occurred between online transportation and city transportation as well as conventional taxis in West Java. According to Nadiem, the government should provide a fair solution to online transport. "The government should immediately deal with this issue," Nadiem said in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
