Indonesia Military Hopes To Get In 10 Big
Members of the House of Representatives Commission I Sukamta assess the strength of the Indonesian military growing rapidly in the last five years. It was based on Global Fire Power (GFP) data.
From the data, said Sukamta, the rank of Indonesian military strength has increased since 2012. In that year, Indonesia was in 22nd position, then rose in 2015 in the rank-19.
Indonesia ranks back up 12th in 2016, with a power index of 0.52. However this year, GFP Indonesia ranked down in the 14th position with a power index of 0.34.
"It is expected that Indonesia's defense force will be better and able to enter the top 10 or even five major world military forces in the future," said Sukamta via text message on Thursday (5/10).
Sukamta said that if human resources, the main tool of the weapon system, and the budget continue to be improved both quantity and quality through the strategic plan program and minimum essential force, then the strength of the Indonesian military could be improved.
According to him, the downgrade of military power could increase the potential threat to Indonesia. Therefore, he said, the quantity and quality of defense elements need to be improved.
"It is expected that through the MEF the needs of TNI alutsista can be fulfilled.From year to year we continue to encourage the budget to buy and renew alutsista improved," said Sukamta.
In addition to elements of defense equipment, he added, TNI soldiers should also be improved ability, integrity, kedispilinan and its proximity to the people.
Moreover, he said, Indonesia has a number of special elite forces in each dimension, which is recognized by other countries.
